Remarquable micro-spécimen associant phlogopite et hématite provenant du district volcanique de Vetralla, dans le Latium central. Le cristal central, tabulaire et nettement idiomorphe, présente une morphologie pseudo-hexagonale typique des micas, avec des faces nettes et un contour géométrique parfaitement lisible malgré sa taille micrométrique.
La surface est uniformément recouverte d’un fin voile d’hématite microcristalline, responsable de la teinte rouge-brun intense et de la patine légèrement irisée, conférant au cristal un aspect satiné à sub-métallique. Cette hématisation souligne admirablement les plans de clivage basal de la phlogopite et accentue les reliefs cristallographiques.
 
Exceptional micromount featuring a sharply formed phlogopite crystal coated with fine hematite from the volcanic district of Vetralla, central Italy. The crystal shows a well-developed pseudo-hexagonal tabular habit, characteristic of trioctahedral micas, with crisp edges and clearly defined basal cleavage planes.
A thin, uniform layer of microcrystalline hematite covers the crystal surfaces, imparting a deep reddish-brown colour and a subtle silky to sub-metallic lustre. This iron-oxide coating enhances the crystallographic relief and highlights growth features and cleavage lamellae, producing a striking visual contrast with the surrounding pale silicate matrix.
