Belle pièce d’autunite des Oudots, dans le Morvan, présentant de riches concentrations jaune vif à jaune-verdâtre d’autunite sous forme d’agrégats microcristallins et de fines plages scintillantes, réparties sur une matrice brun-rouge ferrugineuse. Le contraste entre le jaune lumineux des phases uranifères et la matrice sombre donne à l’échantillon un aspect particulièrement caractéristique des minéralisations secondaires des Oudots. La carrière des Oudots est une localité française très réputée pour ses échantillons d’autunite, dont certains sont considérés comme exceptionnels.
L’autunite, phosphate hydraté d’uranyle et de calcium, est un minéral secondaire formé par l’altération oxydante des minéraux uranifères primaires. Les Oudots ont notamment fourni de remarquables cristallisations d’autunite, souvent sous forme de petites tablettes ou d’enduits cristallins.

Autunite, a hydrated calcium uranyl phosphate, is a secondary mineral formed by the oxidation and alteration of primary uranium minerals. Les Oudots is especially noted for its attractive autunite crystallizations, commonly occurring as small tabular crystals, scaly aggregates or crystalline coatings.
